Why haven't people lost faith in god?

Most people of faith genuinely don't even consider the timing in the way you framed it. They just don't consider how long it's been at all. It doesn't matter to them.

Also God didn't do anything 2000 years ago, either.

And I'm not saying that to be an edgy atheist. If you're asking why people still believe, you must consider that most people throughout history who believed were not firsthand or even second-hand witnesses to whatever may or may not have happened, even 2000 years ago.

Even a religious figure we know was alive like Christ, probably was only ever witnessed by a few thousand people. All the millions converted in the coming decades and centuries were converted on faith alone.
