there is no alternative to Orban, nobody has enough money to independently finance the media and the campaigns to develop a real opposition. it's basically back to 80ies gulash-communism, everyone's livelihood is too dependent on the state to afford to speak up against it. everyone who is too stubborn to mind this or was too poor to start with has left the country. how i usually put it to my slovak friends: in slovakia, business interests control the politicians. in hungary, politicians control the businesses interests. in slovakia politicians make decisions that are good for business. in hungary businesses make decisions that are good for politicians.
