IAmA 37 year old male, unemployed, no car, $9 to my name, living with my parents, haven't gotten laid in over 7 years, and trying to get my life back on track. AMA!

"What happened to the band? Why and how did it end?"

It was never a big thing, just something me and some friends did for fun. There was a really big punk rock scene in my town at the time. It just ended when a few of us got girlfriends and could never find the time to practice. Wasn't any big breakup or anything.

"How did you get your music out there? Did you sell cassette tapes out the back of your car or what? Were you signed to a label?"

We actually never recorded anything. Never sold anything, just played live shows a lot.

"Do you keep in touch with any of your old band mates? If not, why not? No Facebook friends?"

I'm still friends with all of them. We've known each other since high school. We "fired" our original bass player because he couldn't stay sober, but we're all still friends. Our second bass player committed suicide about a year and a half ago, I was still Facebook friends with him, but had lost touch. I went to his funeral though. I'm mainly Facebook friends with all of them at this point, other than our drummer who still lives around here and we still hang out pretty often. The guitar player is in Nashville now and has gone on to some success as a director(music videos mostly and one short film) and still plays in various bands from time to time.

"What did you do when you saw your aunt on fire? Did you try to put it out?"

When I got over there, my uncle had just put her out. She was still conscious and actually walking around but in shock. She was completely naked because the fire had burned all her clothes off. Best I can describe it is her skin was kind of hanging off her, she was charred black from head to toe with her hair burnt off and pretty much in shock and babbling incoherently. I just stood with them both. There really wasn't much I could do. I stayed there until the ambulance and police came and answered their questions. She died a few hours later at the hospital.

"Where exactly did she do it? Was she inside the house or outside?"

She had some mental issues that had pretty much taken over her life at this point. I lived with my parents, my grandmother lives next door(grandfather had died one week earlier), and my aunt and uncle lived in the next house. We had all pretty much taken to trying to keep an eye on her 24/7 because we knew she was suicidal. She had been over at my grandmother's house for a little while. She told her that she was going home. My grandmother thought she would be fine because she was acting okay that day, so she didn't think anything of her just walking back to her home next door. She left my grandmother's house, walked over to her house next door, went straight to the shed, poured gasoline all over herself and lit herself on fire using matches that she apparently had swiped from my grandmother's house when she wasn't looking.
