If you are frustrated with the impossible requirements for the Clash of the Elements then make your voice heard

Obviously WG is a company that exists to make money, that's all fair understandable and everything. It's the way they go about it that is really getting to me now. With the great games they create what they should be doing is trying to build positive relationships with their players and one of the ways they could do that would be fun engaging events with relatively achievable objectives. Instead we get limited engagement (Sub Octavian the notable exception) and these events that are clearly designed so that only a tiny percentage of people will ever reach the end goal. In this case what exactly do they gain? At a guess most of the people who would play through an event to get a free ship aren't the same people who would buy it from the store so they aren't even losing money by making it obtainable to more people. What they're doing is turning the relationship from 'WG make great games and I love playing them' to 'WG make great games and I love playing them in spite of WG'. Build a positive relationship with your customers and they'll be more likely to spend time and money on your products. Instead their approach basically results in a 'them and us' feeling between community and developer and we keep ending up in this situation of 'give feedback' but is anyone actually listening? because it doesn't seem like it.
