If Frodo had succumbed to his injury from the Witch King, who would have carried on the ring?

Aragorn? A human? That's... brave.

No human has ever proven able to do it. Not Frodo (technically human), not Isildur, no one. Faramir was cautious and wise enough to stay far, far away from it, and I suspect it was the same for Aragorn.

I'm sure he would've refused against his own wishes and biases. He ought to know that he can't be trusted with it.

That said, my vote goes to Gimli!

Elves stay away, humans should stay away, so what about dwarves? Thorin's Company cared little, and Gimli never tried anything funny himself, so why not?

There's only one caveat though: he can't ever make the detour to the Glistering Caves behind Helm's Deep. Given how the 7 worked, I'm worried that Gimli would simply never leave again.
