I've actually been to a cult "meeting?". My ex wife was a religious fanatic who had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in her early twenties. For a while she would be online for days on end watching sketchy YouTube videos, checking out Christian extremist websites, and trying to convince me I was going to hell for not memorizing the KJV bible. After we moved back to her home state, she quickly reconnected with some old friends who had been excommunicated from their churches for having fanatical beliefs. Eventually we wound up in a cult service/meeting/whatever.

One random night at about one in the morning she wore me up and told me she was going to church. I was like wtf, couldn't talk her out of it, so I went with her. "Church" was in the basement of a dentist's office in a city two hours away from our house. When we arrived, we were greeted and shown downstairs by a girl we had never meet before. She hugged us and introduced us to the group of about 20 people chilling on dental equipment/couches. Every member introduced themselves as either a profit, apostle, or spirit. There was a girl there who was an atheist and they tried converting her for a couple hours before she left. Another girl was taken into a back room and "ministered" to by one of the leaders and about five other dudes. One of the leaders told me a story about how he knows he's a profit because God told him to tell a random girl she wasn't a whore and because of that, her life was saved. Members laid hands on other members throughout the whole thing. My ex was telling everyone I was the devil and they were saying they prayed Satan out of me and I was filled with the holy spirit. After the service ended, all members, my ex, and myself went to an all night diner. My ex wouldn't talk other than to tell me she could see through my lies. I tried convincing her I was "filled with the spirit" so she would get off my ass with that shit (I was getting pissed at this point). All in all, it was super weird and some people are wack as hell.
