pretentious tastes

Did you just call my tastes pretentious? Why don't you shut the fuck up, you dense motherfucker. None of those films on there are pretentious.

while calling someone else's tastes inferior

His tastes are pretty bad. It doesn't mean he's stupid or anything. It's just bad. It's like someone who reads Twilight, Harry Potter, and so forth. Compare them to someone who reads Dostoevsky, Nabokov, and other classics and you'd get my point.

You also claim that the movies that don't fit into your tastes are trash without substance that don't take the medium serious.

It's not that they don't fit my tastes which the problem. The problem is they are style with no substance films. They are mainstream trash without much depth. This does not mean everything mainstream is bad, but I'm just saying they're not worthy of being on top 10 list. Film, like poetry and literature, is a serious medium. I mean, this doesn't mean one must seek serious art to be representative of their tastes, but that one needs to look for QUALITY film which stuff like Ghostbusters doesn't do it.

I'm allowed to call you out on your bullshit and say your opinion isn't any better, it is just different.

Take your egalitarian bullshit and shove it. Some opinions are more valuable and better than others. A mechanical engineers opinion on a mechanical problem is more valuable than someone without expertise there. Film is similar in that art is a transformative experience wherein one must seek magnitudes of meaning within abstract imagery or so forth. I agree with Alan Moore here. Check out "Mindscape of Alan Moore" for his thoughts on art as being a "transformative experience".
