Portland is a Warzone

I read an article yesterday by a current police office, former CIA officer, that was talking about precisely that. The point of the police is that they are local and they are accountable. They all wear name tags or other identification because they don't and shouldn't have any reason to hide that. They are accountable to us, at the local level.

These Federal troops first tried to hide what agencies they were even with and have doubled-down on not identifying the actual agents. Why? They aren't undercover operatives. Their life isn't endangered by us knowing their names. The only thing it would accomplish is potentially provide some accountability if someone does something they shouldn't. Shouldn't we want that? Who is seriously going to make the case that we want bad police or bad federal agents? that we want to protect someone who commits a crime?

I mean, we all know what's going on here. The reason we point out that they aren't identifying themselves is to try to force someone to say something stupid, or even better, accidentally say something honest, about why.
