For someone who has never used a sex toy and has never actually even masturbated before, I think I would recommend starting off "small" and working my way up.

A couple people recommended a nice bullet vibrator. I would second this. They are basic, cheap, and get the job done.

There are many women do not like vibrators. It would suck to spend $50-100 on a vibrator and find out its just not your thing. You can get a good < $10 bullet vibrator on amazon.
