J.K. Rowling tops ‘Person of the Year’ award poll — and it’s quickly closed

Look, I'm not that into the topic, not what anybody would describe as 'woke', don't spend my days in twitter or reddit or tiktok spats on the subject.

But a billionaire who tries to dictate where and whether a minority group who is objectively victimised and empirically don't engage in the behaviours she claims, can use the loo or exist in the public spaces the law has said for a quarter of a century are their spaces too, is a bully.

She uses an enormous online following, her public profile and her money to harass people infinitely more vulnerable than her. She is one of the wealthiest people in the UK, with tens of millions of adoring fans worldwide, and she is picking on people whose point of view is that they want to exist.

So everything else aside, when rich people use their power and fame and wealth to try and control the rights of others, and use their followers to do so, it's bullying.

Don't want to wade into the wider issue, frankly think people are fucking mental online in how they discuss this across the spectrum. But no, she isn't standing up to bullies. She has the power, she has the influence, she isn't a victim in this situation. Cue the downvotes I guess when the brigades arrive, if they haven't already.
