Just got a panic attack after being emailed a job interview offer

The psychologists and therapists who I have seen provided consistent guidance:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy is the recommended approach for "treating" anxiety.
  • There are drugs available, however they are not effective long-term treatments and come with significant risks.
  • There is no cure. You will never return to "being normal" again.

I do not recommend anyone take these medications, but I understand there may be cases where these drugs are necessary. Anyone who is offered medication to treat a medical illness should have a lengthy, detailed conversation with their doctor before doing so.
