Just how unsafe is using Windows 7 in 2021+?

Let's put it this way.

As long as you take the proper precautions you can prevent against almost all malware attacks. But zero-day exploits and inherent flaws in the windows 7 os itself (the kernel or whatever) won't be patched. They are not visible and can't be pointed to until they are discovered.

It's like this: There's a zombie apocalypse. You can either hide in a run-down shack and board up the doors with planks. Or, you could go to a fortified castle in the middle of a lake where there are hundreds of other people. Sure, the shack will keep the zombies out with enough work (anti-malware/-virus), but there's no way it can protect against explosives (zero-day exploits), and since it's just you, and you can't rebuild the hole made by the explosives (patch the OS), you're out of luck. The castle, let's say, has taxes (everything you hate about win10), but because there's so many people, you will be way safer than in the shack.

To summarize, yes, for the most part, Windows 7 is safe for now. But would you risk it?

Yes, OP is guilty of using confirmation bias to justify to themselves that they are willing to trade off the risks for the benefits, whatever they may be. OP, you make the decision for yourself. Don't justify it to someone else. Weigh the options equally. If you need to ask but you already have preconceived bias about what you want the answer to be, you don't need to ask the question because you already know what you will conclude (that whatever you are biased toward is the best option).

(Quick note: I HATE Windows 10. But I know that Windows 7 not an alternative I am willing to take. I'm prepared to switch to Linux when the time comes, and I won't look back.)
