Is it just me or new games generally suck?

To an extent, I guess, but I also think it’s me.

I’ve played a lot of games, across many different genres, I’ve come to know what’re the best from their respective genres and understand what makes them good and what makes others bad. And the experience overall has made me expect more out of newer titles, not necessarily for them to go above and beyond, but just to deliver and do things well, to look at previous games and understand what made those games good or great and learn from the mistakes of those that failed. But no, I guess not. I also think it just takes more to get my attention now, and more to make me care. And when what is presented is just another run of the mill experience (which I may or may not have enjoyed years prior), I just struggle to stay interested.

Personally, 2019 was a pretty rough year for me overall. Had some good experiences (mostly games I was catching up on) but was mostly underwhelmed and disinterested in those I did play. And as of right now, I’m just looking forward to The Last of Us Part 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. After that, we’ll see how things go.
