Hey man I'm just saying the US is pretty much the only western country that has this much freedom in terms of gun control, and incidentally also the one with the highest gun crime.

Stop using "gun crime", total violence is the relevant statistic. Those western countries were always safer than the US even before their gun control how do you explain that? Also with all of this freedom our crime and violence is still dropping so again why aren't we devolving into anarchy with so many guns, and instead getting safer and more orderly?

Point out another socio-economic factor that is as major as gun laws and I will change my opinion.

Have you ever actually thought about this before or looked into the differences between the US and other countries? You have healthcare availability, wage equality, better freedom of movement, smaller total size with more police, better education availability and equality, and lastly just a better all around access to vital social amenities.

Those are glaring and large differences yet they difference in murder rate is still quite small.

INB4 500% difference

3 out of 100,000 is not a lot.

The factor I described(while rather simplified), was the fact that the countries you mentioned aren't western, which I personally thought was a decent reason to exclude them from the discussion.

It isn't, because in doing so you admit gun control is not the controlling factor in violence.

The fact of the matter is that these countries have much greater levels of poverty that are not comparable to the western nations.

So you admit that that's what causes a place to be more violent, see, now we are learning here.

If you think the US has this same amount of poverty and that that is the reason the crime rate is that high, I think you are wrong.

No, but we have more poverty and experience more of its effects than any other western nation.
