Also, generalizing an entire group of fans is never ideal since there's relatively casual fans who treat it like any other music genre as well as super obsessive people who take things to the extreme, just like with any other fandoms, and all kinds of age groups are represented as well.

Sure, the latter group tends to get all the spotlight because they go crazy on social media, but that doesn't mean everyone who's familiar with K-Pop is an insane fan who blindly defends every bad thing their favorite artists do.
