Kernel Panic, can't boot into Linux after re-installing grub... is this because of a kernel mismatch?

What i'm thinking is grub's currently being told to look at another partition.. it could be that it's not loading a needed ramfs..... what filesystem do you use for /? if it's ext2/3/4 then that's def not it, I don't know about others.

/boot/grub/grub.cfg tells grub what arguments what files need to boot. someone who doesn't know what they are doing can very easily prevent the system from booting. E.G. why that warning is there..

Worst case follow the directions to re-install grub again to get back to here.

.. If that doesn't solve it then boot a liveCD chroot into the install and force re-install.. your kernel might work, but everything would be the safe bet.

NOTE: i'm a bit sleepy and might not be making sense.. NOTE: if you don't feel comfortable doing this, then don't.
