I know it sucks and it's not the kind of shit someone in your spot wants to hear, but to a degree, it's probably better if Atlanta crumbles and stops carrying and paying for the rest of the state. When everything descends into a Mad Max level of chaos and carnage then there's pretty much two end results - either people realize they were wrong and things get better, or the state becomes a blasted hellscape and everyone sane can leave the people who asked for that to their own devices.

Those bumpkins want the state's economy to crumble. They want you gone. And there is nothing on this earth you can do to change their opinions, beyond leaving them to burn.
