Late Night Random Discussion Thread - April 06, 2022

I am getting affected by the current political and social climate. Today I came across a group of aspiring civil servants justifying dowry in response to the TN nursing textbook.

"Sorry to bring some difference in opinion, When the girl demands a good govt job or higher salary holding husband, where goes the same thinking? we forget about our mother and atrocities she faces from some girls after marriage and where are the laws? We are all against dowry and yes we should be,but the system should change and all our mothers should be included within that bracket of so called female gender equality Education should bring humility but sorry to say we are also going towards some fake female feminism"

"Why girls don't marry unemployed men ! What's your opinion about this ?"

"But because of Dowry the unemployed boys get married"

"Pua janma kari kan papo karidele semane Janama heba ru chakiri parjyanta gote chinta chakiri na hele ghara chaleibu kemti, tate baha haba kiye??? Baha heba purba ru 3-4ta jhia reject karibe(kahaku govt job, ta kahaku gora toka darkaar) Baha heba time re paisa kharacha kariba Nua jhia ku gharaku anila pare ta bapa ghara katha na mane padu boli taku comfortable kareiba, ta katha bujhiba

Girls may or may not have jobs but boys job is mandatory.

We boys pay for everything.

We boys take so many responsibility only to hear patriarchy going on.

Laws are women centric and biased" - this coming from a lawyer. Sorry for the bad translation. Didn't care to translate the rest because it's shit.

Same person: "I am fighting, I am just saying that demanding dowry is not morally wrong, but harassing someone for dowry is totally illegal and morally wrong. And lets not stigmatized the person who asks for dowry. It is the matter of personal choice and we should respect that. Ab kisko dowry nahi dena hai toh first meeting mei baat clear karo and dusra insan dhundo."

I can't..with these men.

Technically this should be a whole ass post but then I would have to revisit it and I don't want to.
