Between the two major parties in the US, I think it goes both ways on this topic depending on the current political climate. One side acknowledges that the justice system is racially biased and that police keep getting away with killing people who were unarmed, but when the topic of guns come up you can just have the police protect you so you don't need a gun, only the cops can be trusted with guns. Then with the other side it's all back the blue, cops are heroes, and you won't be saying ACAB when you need to call them to come save you. Unless gun legislation is brought up, then they're spineless pigs who can't save you, they'll show up minutes after you're already dead, so you better have the means to protect yourself. If there are people in those two parties with consistent beliefs, they seem to at least get quiet about certain things when gun laws come up because it's convenient for their gun policy goals.
