Lead Iranian actress in 'The Salesman' which is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film will not attend the Academy Awards due to Trump's proposal to ban Iranians

"Give me your tired your poor your huddled masses yearning to be free".

It is oppressive when people are being oppressed and we stand by and not only do nothing but blame them. That quotation is a founding principal of American society. Is t only ok if we accept Irish and Italian immigrants? Now we are too full?

More problems than solutions. As in, they are feel scorned by us, and their scorn turns to anger, and anger to hate, which creates more problems.

Again, America is THE country for accepting immigrants and oppressed people globally. We are literally founded on that principal. It is American as fuck. If we want to take a back seat to those 194 other countries then we will fall behind.

This is especially true for Iran. Iranian immigrants come here and are doctors, lawyers, bankers, etc. nearly all are highly educated and give back to our society. We are cheating ourselves by not letting them in.

What's my source for that? I am an Iranian American part of a large community of Iranian Americans. Many in DC, NYC, and LA. Nearly ALL of us are in one of those careers.
