Is this legal? My close friend is getting exploited by SM Hypermarket.

Your opinion is skewed in on so many levels.

No, it isn't. I've been in the middle of an important project and had a filipino employee pop up and go to leave, and i'm like "where are you going?" and they reply "it's lunch, its my right to take a lunch".

Ok, well it's true, it is their right, but that isn't how you foster trust and goodwill from your boss, and they aren't being abused--- we're working on an important project and once we're done i'd be likely to buy them lunch and give them the rest of the day off---- IF they didn't act like an asshole about their RIGHTS. See this meme for clarification.

You see that is why we have labor laws to make sure there is fair and equal trade between an employer and employee.

Yes, i'm from the United States. Many of your laws are based on ours. If you want to be the type of person for whom the law is more important than a relationship, then go ahead and tell your boss that he's breaking the law by making you work with him on a project for an additional 20 minutes when its lunch. Also go ahead and tell your gay friend that his marriage is illegal in the philippines and therefore you won't recognize it. Again, this meme will assist you.

Your first job experience doesn't necessitate that her job experience should suck as well. That was your choice to be paid poorly and not have the gusto to be paid what you are supposed to be paid for or what you are really worth for.

I had no experience, and was being paid what people with no experience get paid. It was at a top 10 dot com and I needed experience in order to command a higher salary. Save the career 101 for someone as green as you, please.
