Also the Chinese ancestor worship thing. That could be an interesting way to have a "spirit of humanity" that also ties to other spirits for neutral. Another annoying thing is that in I neutral even had its own religion. But in II the religion was replaced with a garage with a tiny ying yang on it, and for some reason the fortune teller was vaguely considered neutral and buddhist. And ever since then there hasn't been really any indication of a neutral religion. Which is annoying under the circumstances, considering being a game about religious figures.
Of course, I think that even law and chaos could use updates. But neutral seems the one that most desperately needs it. Most of chaos' gods seem either negative, "about rebellion" or too openly violent. Which makes it hard to believe that anyone but the most violent and short sighted people would buy into it. There should be more positive representations. Especially odd considering that buddhist things sometimes get passed off as mostly chaos, but that's hardly overly violent. More nature gods, and people doing nice things in an individualistic way would make a better contrast. Its odd for mara to ALSO be a high level chaos demon, when buddhist thigns are thrown onto chaos. It would even be interesting to find a way to make chaos look more abrahamic, to tie in with the themes of law being a takeover.
And law too. Its odd that it gets considered mostly western, and rarely has much eastern veneer in it other than things like hugo having a buddhist monk outfit. Because its whole collectivist veneer in terms of social ideal is very eastern, and resonates with many parts of eastern spirituality too. Especially mahayana buddhism, where bodhissatvas are effectively identical to their idea of messiahs, and want to create "pure lands," or the idea of nondualism in general. There's even an eastern modern religion called Cao Dai which looks like it might have been inspiration for the art for the avatar of yhvh called shaddai. which is basically buddhism, and some eastern religious things, but under the assumption that the christian god is the god of it. Something like this can easily be used as a veneer to allow a switch where the law side is shown as eastern things, but still in the context of the universe of being ruled by parts of yhvh. Especially considering that the art implies they already used it as an idea.
