Life after death should not be feared; for it is the same as life before birth.

Not speaking for the commenter, but the simplification of death as the same as before birth can indeed be quite offensive for who deals with crippling problems stemming from fear of death, even with stoic philosophical help. Even more taking in account how commonly that thought "solution" is repeated.

Before being born we had no concept of anything. Nor will we have after death (most likely). But right now we do have that concept and have the knowledge that we will stop existing and will miss everything that is to come (as we have the knowledge of what we missed before). The fear of death is not about what suffering we will be under after death, it's about the present dread in the knowledge that we will not exist anymore, forever, at some point in time.
