I am unsure is this is the correct thread for chapter discussion but here goes nothing (if I am in the wrong place please redirect me and I shall be on my way). Below are some musing that I have been having regarding the series and I would like your thoughts:
Looking into the future, I wonder is Baam is going to have to kill one/some of his own team mates? Right now he has encountered games where they are enough opposing teams that he typically does not have to fight his allies. In addition, he has really only scrapped the surface of the towers horrors and is still a baby. But what will happen if he is forced into a death match against his own team, what if he is locked out of a match and can only watch as one of his friends are killed and he is totally powerless to do anything to stop it?
Firstly, I know some "plot armor" has been thrown around (on all sides not just Baams). *Secondly, this action would also be against Baams current character *Lastly, SIU is limited by the mentality of the audience his webtoon is being marketed to *The last point here is actually the most important since it's what has allowed the series to continue up until this point
As a result of these three points, the chance of this twist happening is very slim. However, to counter those three points, SIU has hinted at potential darker developments like this for quite some time. If he so decides to change the intended audience of ToG this could become a real possibility.
Thus, I was thinking, at the "Name Hunt Station" Baam might not have a choice but to fight against someone he cares about due to some ironic twist of fate. For example, his allies get captured and Kaiser forces them into a fight. Now, I don't think this will happen in the "Name Hunt Arc" since SIU has said it is supposed to be short, and in the immediate battles this would be instantly averted if Kaiser is KO'd. Incidentally, this might be better since there is still a chance of it happening at a critical point in future arcs.
Lets look at how would this impact the story? *This would test the mental character of Baams of his "real self" after he exits the Rice Pot. *It would show how much faster Baam is growing then his friends (his power VS. their power) *And, it would reiterate how little the tower and FUG actually cares about the lives of his alleged friends (For point 2, lets not joke around here, Baam is OP compared to them and he definitely has a hidden darkness)
The result, I believe there shall come a point where (even with alleged plot armor and his powers) he shall be unable to save, or even forced to destroy, one of his friends. This would shake up the story tremendously (the tremors would measure at least a ten on the Richter scale), the dichotomy between good/evil characters would become a grey area, And it would definitely appease the apparent blood lust a decent sized portion of the ToG community displays week after week in the forms.
I haven't thought this through nearly as much as I would have liked to, but I would still like to hear your thoughts on this matter.
