Lips remain dry after applied lipbalm. Lipbalm works for not more than 1 hour. Any treatment or suggestion??

Just wondering if you use lip balm that contains SPF? When I was apprenticing and training to be a makeup artist (this was 150 years ago), we were often told that skin on the lips incredibly thin and many people can’t tolerate SPF there. If it doesn’t bother your lips, obviously go for it it and use SPF but as it turns out, a lot of times SPF is the culprit behind dry, cracking lips. I’m not a medical professional, just a makeup artist so someone with medical knowledge might want to chime in. But in my experience this has always been true.

EOS is also polarizing. I have no valid reason for it and I’ve never really heard anything about the product but for every client I’ve worked with that loved EOS, I hear from ten more that claim it burns their lips or dries them out more.

Some folks have good experience with plain old petroleum based products. Some don’t. I’d try the Vaseline brand lip balm because it’s petroleum based, that way if it doesn’t agree with you, you’re only out of three dollars.

My lips get as dry as an alligator handbag because I have diabetes and I vape, both of which are factors that contribute to dry lips, and I don’t always drink enough water. The product that’s worked for me the best is Too Faced Pillow Balm. I don’t know what kind of voodoo magic is in that stuff but I slather it on before bed and my lips feel great well into the next afternoon. I don’t have to use it nonstop to see results, just once in the afternoon and once at bedtime. It’s pricey which is annoying but it’s worth it for me.

For my clients that prefer something more natural or organic than Too Faced, many of them have had great experiences with Treat Beauty, the jumbo sized organic lip balms. One Treat Beauty is the size of four Chaptsicks so it’s kind of pricey too, around fourteen bucks for one tube. It’s offered in a lot of irresistible flavors and I think that’s the main selling point, I’m sure any organic lip balm would have the same results. In fact, Dr. Bronzer’s lip balm is organic as well and you can usually find it at Target.

Best of luck!
