Los Angeles: Christmas 2022

I became homeless when I was 18. I was still in high school, but I was 18 so I was out in the cold when my parents didn't legally have to take care of me anymore. The only reason why I didn't die was getting sent to a mental ward for suicide. The social workers there helped find me a place in a domestic violence shelter and helped me apply for emergency food stamps.

If help like that was available without a $30,000 hospital bill, maybe less people would attempt suicide.

It's so easy to suddenly have nothing. Treat other people how you'd want to be treated. Homeless people deserve to be treated like human beings, not animals. You'd want them to treat you like a human being.
