Perth is awesome! I went there in 2005 on an aircraft carrier and the people were amazing. My friend and I went to a bar and were drinking by ourselves, then a large group of locals invited us to their table and we had a blast. The next night, we went to a more lively club and I had way too much drink. I was having a hard time operating the ATM because alcohol, loud music and frenzy of people around me. Then, a random club goer walked up and said:

"Mate, are you having a hard time? Give me your card. What's your pin? How much money do you want? Go sit down and I'll bring it to you."

Without hesitation, I handed over my card and the requested information and sat down at the bar. Minutes later, he returned card/cash in hand and I bought him a pint. The next morning, I woke up in a panic because I was sure that I had been cleaned out. I called the bank to check my balance and he only took the amount I requested! I was shocked but so relieved.

Also, that same night, we were stumbling back to our hotel at about 4am and I notice a cop car creeping behind us. As an American, I thought we were going to the drunk tank in a foreign country. Instead, the cops pulled up next to us and asked if we needed a ride. Then, told us to have a great night!

I want to live there.
