I don't like the "real African" take myself, as a South African.

In my opinion Israel isn't any less African because him and his family immigrated to New Zealand. He's Nigerian-New Zealander.

Kamaru isn't less African because him and his family immigrated to The United States, he's Nigerian-American. Francis isn't any less African because he immigrated to France, he's Cameroonian-French.

Dricus is South African despite South Africa's history with colonialism and Apartheid

There's absolutely no denying the African continents history with colonialism, there's no denying South Africa's past with colonialism and Apartheid, but I'm genuinely curious how many in this sub genuinely care about Africa's painful history or just see it as a means to put down a fighter they already had a prejudice against because his Afrikaans.

So many in this sub have a problem with Dricus' "real African" take, fail to acknowledge Israel labelling Robert Whittaker a "fake" New Zealander because he grew up and spent most of his life in Australia as a half Maori man.

Many also fail to acknowledge Khabib labelling Tony Ferguson as a "fake" Mexican because he was born and raised in The United States.
