That doesn't make them non-muslims; I very much hate this pointless line of argument. The KKK are still Christians, as are Westboro Baptist Church. Other Christians can condemn them and criticize saying, "thats not what our religion teaches." That doesn't make these groups any less Christian in identification. They believe in the Trinity, Jesus, the Bible. Ta da. Christian. In the same sense militant Muslims are still Muslims. Perhaps they are perverting the religion, but they believe in Allah, say the Shahada, preform Salat, so on. Ta da. Muslim.

It isn't just the Islamic State either, the Taliban and Boko Haram also spread fear in many regions in the name of Islam. And I find it hard to argue that Muslim theocracies are havens of wonderful ness or that any form of equality exists. Any theocracy would be oppressive in one way or another; it just so happens that the only proclaimed theocracies left are Islamic (Minus the vatican). This girl being outed as a non-christian is entirely different than someone being outed as a muslim apostate (vs non-muslim) in a Muslim theocracy and even worse a militant Muslim controlled area.
