It’s amazing how people who know nothing about actual police brutality—a serious issue in the US but still far better than other places I’ve lived, from personal experience—are the ones who whine most about it.

No, not all cops are bastards. A lot are both in the US and worldwide, due to poorly personality types and bad training. From personal experience from back when I drank, I’ve had my ass kicked by shitty Michigan cops who provoked and escalated fights, and I’ve been safely escorted away and taken to an emergency room by Florida officers who knew how to handle altered individuals in almost exactly the same situation.

Other than getting me to quit drinking, the lesson here is that reductive “ACAB” thinking is for over privileged adult children mad that police stopped them from vandalism and doesn’t help anyone or fix real issues in our system.
