Man dies in collision on Highway 16 due to smoke from controlled burn.

I live in a rural area. I grew up in a farming family and my family has farmed in Canada for over 100 years. I’m getting sick of the lack of accountability, the “poor me” attitude, the “thank a farmer” shit, the often false information that all farmers are such good stewards of the land. The province has experienced significant damage to wetlands and waterways from illegal drainage which is illegal but not enforced. We have significant water pollution from chemical and fertilizer run off, as shown by recent UofR and UofS studies, but got forbid a federal government scientist take a water sample. A few years ago I was forced off the road by a 12 year old in a semi, and when I called police I was told that “we aren’t going to fine someone just trying to finish harvest”. I’m my area at least, the majority of the farmers are the strongest climate change deniers, even though they are the ones directly affected by it. I get tired of hearing about how climate change isn’t real, but also that it just keeps getting dryer and dryer and we need more and more fertilizer. I have been physically chased off of crown land because “I cut that hay and you are walking on it ruining it”. I have spent my whole life in the middle of it, and there is a whole different side that most people don’t ever see or realize.
