Truck driver in Humboldt Broncos crash awaits deportation decision

If it was some farmer hauling grain it would not have generated nearly as much hate for the driver, and I doubt there would have been jail time for running a stop sign.

I'm ambivalent about the truck driver's potential deportation, but I wanted to point out that the jail time he received was for 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death and 13 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. The fact that he was inexperienced and blew a stop sign were simply catalysts for what followed.

Considering he was sentenced to eight years for each death and five years for each count of bodily harm, yet is serving them concurrently, I'd say he actually got off quite lightly.

One question, though: Are you suggesting that the judge in this particular case had a racial bias or that the sentence wasn't appropriate given the extent of the loss of life?
