Coronavirus in Saskatchewan - April 2, 2020

Comment on today's data: Today registered the highest 24 hour period of testing we have seen to date. Scott Moe commented that in Canada, Alberta is testing the most per capita, and Saskatchewan is second behind them. We have a very high testing to confirmed case ratio, which is very good.

Several people in the Saskatoon Correctional Center have tested positive, which is a very difficult to control breeding ground for the virus. I have personally been in the center as part of my work. I do not envy anyone spending regular time there on a normal day.

One person who works at the Golden Mile Superstore in Regina has tested positive, and an email has been sent out to a distribution list of those they could reach.

Saskatoon still remains the province's hotspot, with 50% of the cases but only about 1/4 of the residents.

On an international note, some airborne shipments of medical supplies were being sent to France and Canada. While en route, the USA negotiated a better deal for the supplies, so the planes were diverted from their original destinations, and sent to the USA. The actions of the USA may have caused the death of Canadians and French people.
