As a feminist I feel so deeply conflicted over The Queen's handling of Prince Andrew sexual abuse and struggling with this as everyone in Britain continues to mourn her

Most empires were and are pretty shitty. What is with germany and the 2. World war? What is with russia? Historical speaking we humans suck, not only the british empire. They actually did good things like: - the abolititon of slavery - connected the globe with technology (especially trains) - they forbade sati (if your husband dies, you were expected to burn yourself on his pyre, or you just were thrown in there with your dead husband, really cruel hindu tradition)in india - they fought against the nazis -defeated the Ottoman Empire - Seven of the 10 richest countries are all formoer colonies from the British Empire (Qatar, Singapore, Kuwait, Brunei, UAE, Hong Kong, and the USA) - Five of the richest 10 countries in Africa —Egypt, Sudan, South Africa, Ghana, and Nigeria—are former British colonies.

Most european countries had colonies, but why does only England suck for this? What is with Spain, Portugal, France and the Netherlands? Even germany had some colonies back then. Let's not forget what happend in Ruanda when they were decolonized. It always astonishes me how most people just forget that, even though it didn't happen to long ago and how cruel the genozid in Ruanda was.

The point with diamonds and jewelery is also not completly correct - some of them, like the Koh-i-noor Diamond are claimed by different countries. There was actually a court battle in 2016 where India sait themselfs that it was a gift to the east Indian company only to take a u turn on it. Then there is as an example the great star of africa. This stone was mined from a private mine and PURCHASED by the South Africa's Transvaal government which giftet the stone then to King Edward XII as a birthday gift. Many people try to make such an easy thing out of it but the thing is - it is not. And yeah sure how do you deal with possesions you gained because of war? And I mean - if you think you need to give things back which you won in war several hundred years ago, that means that each country should do that, and not only England.

Wishing someone bad things now that they have died, is really unclassy, especially for things their ancestors did. I am certain we all had at some point ancestors who really sucked and did bad things. Does not mean we should have to suffer for their actions.
