Why do so many foreign redditors hold militant anti-American views?

I had an friend beg me to move out of America because she thought I was going to get killed there lol. I lived in one of the safest mid-large sized cities in the world.

I do find the average American to be a little too nationalistic for my own comfort as well, coming from a country that used to be a nationalist dictatorship the military worship and rampant nationalism makes me feel a little uncomfortable, but anti-American sentiment goes way too far at times.

The Norwegian news was framing the large count of US "mass murders" as school shootings, random nightclub shootings, and the thought of being killed in random areas despite almost all of them being gang violence. Technically true calling them "mass murders" by one definition but at the same time grossly misleading in terms of the reality of life here. To some extent American media does it as well. Like the the panic at that Texas mall a while go shows, but it's hard to convince someone who never lived here that it's not the reality of the States
