Here’s the reality:

NY and CA and a hand full of blue states are ready to go and enact major change. But there are a shit ton of red and purple states who can barely put 1 dem in congress. And those are the folks that swing the vote to a moderate dem president, because you’re right: they don’t want too much change.

But don’t blame the system for holding back change. The Dems inch to the left to the best of their ability. Obama and Biden got everyone health care and gay marriage passed. That’s a tough thing to do when those red state dem congress members are one policy away from losing their seat.
