Memes aside, what is the general opinion of r/LiverpoolFC on Klavan?

He passes well and is a decent runner for a dude in his 30s. Sees the game well and is above average on the ball. I think a lot of defenders are decent on the ball, they're just unwilling to show it in anyway way. Not him.

He is average in the air and beatable on the dribble. I also think he does a poor job of attacking a shooter with his body wen he tries o block shots near the goal. He like stands upright more often than not. I feel like he's overall more timid than you'd like from a defender.

But this is all based on his performances since signing. Recently he's been quite solid defensively. Maybe he just needed an extended run and some discipline from Klopp.

All things considered, I think he is a good depth player and should be kept on for as long as he holds this level of form. And personally, I like rooting for the guy. Just A likeable dude to me.

In terms of what I think of his career, shit speaks for itself. Bundesliga and premier league player in modern football. He is top percentile as far as ability is concerned. And as you've said, he's the most accomplished player from a country so he has his place in history for the foreseeable future.
