There were some obvious hints for him to be a closeted homosexual. The guy used to be very nervous as we live in a very conservative country, and being gay has a jail sentence, so I befriended him thinking at first he was just shy, the more we interacted as friends I picked up on some signs, he would try to sleep on my shoulder on many occasions I brushed it off a few times and said he was just tired. On another occasion, my friends caught him smelling my shirt while I was at the beach, and I brushed it off as him trying to joke around as lots of boy groups pretended to be gay have fun. At this point, I had suspicions, but I said nothing as I knew that a few words could lead into something bad for him. I had convinced myself that he wasn't gay so I wouldn't feel the need to bring the topic up until one day when we were taking a walk and he decided to come out, I simply said that it was cool and sexuality isn't something I care about and that we'll stay friends. He replied:"You don't get it, I'm in love with you." I didn't feel the same, and hanging out felt sort of awkward, so I told him that we can't be friends anymore as it's awkward when we hang around. And this is how I discovered that my best friend was gay.
