It likely does. And here's a handy time saving general overview…

Synopsis

Archetypal epic battle between Good and Evil with a bit of the metaphysical stirred in for good measure. The forces of Evil threaten to eclipse those of Good, seeking to oppress, curtail freedom, and exercise tyranny with impunity.

Plot

  • Evil builds supposedly impervious massive, threatening, beams-shooting ball of doom. This is always an awe inspiring engineering feat, yet never seems to be perfected despite multiple iterations and recurring design flaws. Though somewhat predictable and limited, no one seems to know exactly where or when it will show up next until it's functional, but there's always a good deal of worry and angst when it finally 'comes on line'.

  • Uncertainty, rumors, and vague convoluted sub-plots become rampant; anticipation building, suspense, bickering, &c.

  • Personification of Good and Evil battle on treacherous, precarious, skinny metal gangway over elaborate core with magical weapons within said inherently flawed beam-shooting ball of doom. The victor varies, adding a degree of uncertainty.

  • Traditionally, attackers of mixed rebel origin eventually fly through maze to shoot up some disproportionately small vulnerable weak spot, which then triggers an inexplicable cascading series of failures, culminating in massive cataclysmic compromise. Much rejoicing and celebration follow, though there have been many casualties in the process. 'Good' rebels are largely obscure, though there's always some heroic individual to rally around. This hero may have flaws, but those flaws are graciously overlooked for the most part.

  • Freedom is briefly restored. Good guys fly away off to far reaches, and rest up for the next inevitable, supposedly impervious, massive beam-shooting ball of doom crisis.

  • There is an exuberant celebration, yet despite an initial flurry of unfettered rejoicing, apathy seems to settle on many aspects of the new found liberty. As the populace are no longer burdened by a repression, this little niggle also tends to get a pass.

…until next time.
