People often complain that our little corner is hostile, and it certainly can be. But let's consider a juxtaposition to that hostility for a moment…

Once upon a time if one went a-Googling for some jailbreak related question, one would inevitably stumble upon top hits from a certain forum. One's initial excitement over finding that another soul in trouble posted one's exact if not similar question would lead to a click— only to discover that the top answer was delivered by some elevated individual with a diamond next to their name, usually beginning with "Post Repos/Sources". Whether innocent or no, the unwitting OP would dutifully post their list, and god forbid somewhere in there was a naughty repo. This immediately inspired unmitigated gleeful scorning by either the same, or a different glittering wanker with a diamond— regardless of the validity question, regardless of the naughty repo having nothing whatsoever to do with the problem — absolutely relishing a blithe dismissal, or expressing nearly euphoric glee at luring out a transgressor for a public lynching. To make matters more offensive, after the OP defended or rightfully attempted to vindicate themselves, still they were met with derision, almost always concluded with a thoughtful well wishing flourish running along the lines of: "Hope you lose your jailbreak!". In some instances more than not, that OP may have done just that as a consequence of that treatment.

Undoubtedly some readers here will agree with the sentiment, believing justice served and that's all very well, but but look what happened— remember what happened when this dismissive arbitrary attitude it became systemic, breeding it's own unique brand of toxicity— it became a hierarchically sanctioned, repressive, and ultimately completely self-defeating collective burdened by heavy handed, arbitrary practices.

Over time, one couldn't help but notice that nine times out of ten, if one was foolish enough to continue to click towards this bleak, stagnant abyss of utterly useless "assistance", one would be met not with solutions but rather with a consistent lot of completely hostile, unhelpful arseholes. It was abundantly clear just by prolonged casual perusal that the cesspool in question had a culture and a general rule of engagement which if not actively encouraged, was at least certainly tacitly condoned.

As r/jailbreak grew, and the other thank christ faded in disgrace— as users defected here in search of better company— some of the former, often (nearly inexplicably illiterate) lesser "moderators" followed, bringing their disagreeable comment culture with them. Some of the biggest offenders have either subsequently adapted in the harsh communal fires of r/jailbreak, or were so utterly blinded by their own stubborn Crusade they finally got run straight off or buried under an avalanche of repeated downvotes.

r/jailbreak is NOT JBQ&A. That's what makes r/jailbreak the outlet that it has become. For every wax and wane of our jailbreaking Redditeer's open bickering, trifling grievances, tribal disputes, and ridiculous arguments at least our hostility is measured with a the pervasive willingness to assist. Sometimes that assistance is accompanied by a communal rebuke over a heterodox, or "questionably ethical" query, but it still exists.

The moderators here, for the most part remain silent and fair, exhibiting a degree of equanimity that should definetly remain the norm. Under no circumstances should we allowing any drifting towards the attitudes of r/jailbreak's one time contemporary and predecessor.
