It depends on which friends. I was at a wedding of a classmate whose parents I was 100% convinced were divorced. She never talked about her father, at all. Only her mother. Nope, didn't divorce. Just led separate lives. To say that wedding was tense is the understatement of the year.

I have a newly engaged friend that I'm debating. Her parents haven't spoken a word to each other in 5 years but won't divorce because they are strict Catholics. Considering her fiance hates her father and openly mocks him to his face, I'm thinking I want to be several timezones away from that wedding and have someone else narrate the shitshow for me. I'm not the "I'm only here for the popcorn" kind of person in real life.
