“Breast is best” until it isn’t. *NSFW: Swearing!*

I believe it, too, but I've had formula in my cabinet since before my baby was born, in case it didn't work out. I got stuck at the doctor's office when my babe was 3 days old and asked my mom to give her formula bc I could hear her screaming on the phone. She decided to wait for me because the baby fell asleep soon after.

My baby is 6 months old and has never had formula, but if I felt she needed it, I would absolutely welcome it! Sorry to have been harsh but you screwed up by not offering formula sooner. Breast IS best, in general, but not for everyone and it's not the only good option. It's better but not to such an extent that formula is a failure. Yes, your network failed you.

The nerve you touched, I guess, is, lots of people attack breastfeeding when it has lots of benefits, AND mothers in particular feel guilt to such an extreme that so much needless suffering occurs, for moms and sometimes their babies, too.
