Someone posted a 1.3M money diary on R29 as a “housewife” and, as expected, the comments are full of “I’d be so bored, I could never not work or volunteer” etc. I don’t get the boredom/work comments. Are they bored on the weekends? I think retiring at 36/37 sounds like heaven. It might be hard to unravel your identity from up your job at first but once you do, it must be so freeing. Volunteering/contributing to charity? Ok, fine, I’ll give them that, she could do more in that regard, but it’s one week out of her life and they’re kind of on vacation, so she’s busying herself exploring the new city. I’d love to travel around and play tourist for a while.
