Ya know, I was actually thinking...that’s a hard question for a beauty pageant. Why do we expect our beauty pageant contestants to have solutions for deep seated educational disparities in America? I’m a college educated individual with a lot more life experience than this poor girl and my answer would have to be “That’s a terrible statistic and it says that our educational system is failing many Americans, but I wouldn’t know where to begin in addressing it. It sounds like something that needs to be handled at the state or federal level with educational reform and expanded funding.” That’s not really an answer though, just acknowledging the problem and that I’m not personally qualified to solve it.
