Missed my conditional offer by 1 point

I'll delete this comment once you've seen it so let me know. He got A*AB but needed AAA. B in History. So he got rejected. Thing is he was like 1 Mark off A (80%) like 319/400, or smth like that. He was so sad, ("the most desperate week of my life", he said) and booked a flight to London aka Oxford the next day, wrote the admission (probably) asking for like a meeting with the woman that interviewed them. Then the secretary emailed back saying, the woman has gone on holiday but since he has already booked the train ticket he went anyway. When he arrived the secretary was like "I emailed you" but he said that he hasn't checked his email. In that moment the woman came out, really about to leave for holiday. She decided to have a chat with him anyway and asked him if he needed tissues to cry on bc apparently she get people like him in her office after results day all the time. he explained the situation (All his other History marks were pretty good, he had just gotten 1 D in one of them). She said that it was really unlikely and that she'll talk to the others but he shouldn't get his chances up. Although she remembered interviewing him and being impressed with his knowledge on stats in law (so basically him as a person) So I think the evening of that day or something he got his admission letter again.

Yeaaah so basically do whatever you can. Like anything. If you plan doing something like that, you might as well ring the maths undergratuate tutor/admission officer number directly (it's on the website)
