Moving to Toronto soon!

Hola, bienvenida a Toronto!

• From what you are describing you may want to look for a newer condo in the West side of the downtown area. King, Queen and the nearby streets will have nice coffee shops and restaurants for sure. But it’s worth noting that King/Queen street west will also be pretty loud till late at night. So it’s best to look for a place on a street parallel/nearby to them, such as Adelaide, Richmond or Wellington street.

• With your budget of $3500, you’ll find great newer condos. Be sure to check out mls.ca for listings with a real estate agent (it will guarantee quality and no direct contact with the landlord, in most cases).

• It may be a good idea to air BNB for a month or two to explore different neighbourhoods before signing a one year lease (usually a must/minimum to rent a quality condo). You will get better idea or your likes when exploring these neighbourhoods by walking or taking the public transit. Since you are not keen on a car, how far do you want to live from work?

• Besides Adelaide and Richmond street on the west side, you may also want to look into Yorkville, Distillery or St Lawrence market area. These are all public transit friendly and pretty trendy.

• It’s worth noting that you’ll need to demonstrate great/excellent credit score/history in Canada in order to qualify to rent a good quality condo through a real estate agent.

• Lastly, not to disappoint. Toronto is a beautiful metropolis that’s only a few hundred years old as compared to Spain with thousands of years of history behind. There is no comparison to Barcelona when it comes to beautiful architecture. Toronto is mostly tall condos with some remaining Victorian era buildings. That being said, I’m sure you’ll enjoy Toronto very much. Best of luck!
