Multilinguals, what's your "they didn't realise I could understand their language" story?

I served as a police officer in Seoul for a bit. I am Korean but spent my childhood years in the US and elsewhere so I speak English fluently.

During President Trump’s visit to Seoul in 2017, there were a couple of young Americans who were in front of me at the hotel where the President was staying. The motorcade was to come any minute and these guys were talking about how one of them was going to hold me and the other guy was going to run through the police line and hold up a sign.

For my own sake and theirs, I told them thats the stupidest idea ever and that that could lead them to a very fun experience with not only us Korean police but with the US Secret Service.

They only yelled afterwards.

How dumb can you be...
