Is music your fulltime job?

Depends what you mean by "music." I started on the "music is the product" early in my career, but I could not consistently make the kind of money to support the lifestyle I was trying to live. I realized it is much easier to make money developing the technology and standards. I went corporate and have worked for two of the big technology companies. I have joined various engineering teams that work on things with music application, or I drive engineering projects which interest to me. I have also put myself into position where I get to play the corporate liaison roles on various standards committees where I represent corporate interests. It might not sound so exciting, but there are roles with modest power in company bureaucracies that someone has to fill. Even though I am representing my corporate interest, or more accurately my group's interests, I have influence defining that interest.
