Musk Softens Remote-Work Mandate to Retain Twitter Staffers - Bloomberg

I can't believe he's suprised that at this point many of them would rather just go. It's no suprise his alpha dog bollocks is backfiring.

Can't remember where exactly I read that, but it was a great point: Musk's management style worked for Tesla and SpaceX, because they're companies with big, unique ideas behind them. You can easily find passionates that would be willing to work 80-hour weeks because they genuinely believe in the idea of "revolutionizing personal transport" or "moving humanity towards becoming an interplanetary species" and, honestly, where else would you go to achieve that?

Comparatively, Musk's ideas for Twitter feel... mundane? "Freedom of speech"? "An everything app"? "A source of trustworthy news"? "A spamless social media site"? Every month there's a dozen new startups appearing out of nowhere promising just that.
