Keynes’ father John Neville Keynes was an economist and a lecturer in moral sciences, and his mother Florence Ada Keynes was a local social reformer. At age 5 Keynes was began his education in The Perse School, a prestigious secondary school. Keyes excelled academically. He enrolled to Eton College in 1897 on a scholarship. Not so long after in 1902, Keyes joined King’s College on another scholarship, where he received a Bachelors in Arts in mathematics. In 1919 Keynes with a position at the British Treasury worked himself up the bureaucracy to become the principal representative at Versailles, only to resign after he believed the Treaty of Versailles was too burdensome on the Germans. After nearly losing his entire fortune during the Great Depression, Keynes came up with a plethora of theories that aimed to explain and prevent such a crisis. In 1930, Keynes published his work Treatise on Money which explained that the cause of rise in unemployment lay in the amount of money being saved which when exceeds the amount being
